Flute and Voice
Students of Deb Toole...
Wednesday February 4th hails the return of Music and Munch with this year's recital series. Guest
performers are all familiar to Salt Spring audiences through their various musical associations. On this occasion
they come together as students of
Deb Toole. Deb is as well known as a performer, actress, singer and musician. Her knowledge and experience
are skillfully passed on to many students on Salt Spring at her lakeside studio and she is excited to present
four of those students on Wednesday.
In an eclectic programme of works for flute and for voice, audience members will be treated to music
ranging from early Baroque to modern musicals.
Bo Curtis, singer with Tuned Air and the newly formed group, Indigo, has been studying flute with Deb
for only six months. However, he has proved himself capable of a more advanced flute repertoire and will play a
Telemann Fantasia.
Noni Fogarty, most often heard with the early music group, Cantus, and with Tuned Air, has been
studying both flute and voice with Deb for two years. She will join Bo in a couple of classical flute duets.
Sylvia Louwmann, soloist with Tuned Air and winner of the 2002 soloists competition, has been a student
for three years at the lakeside studio. She will sing a selection of folk music - Gartans Mother Lullaby, Poor
Wayfaring Stranger; several songs from musicals and the modern ballad Jenny Rebecca.
Amy Buchwald has studied with Deb for two years. A soloist with Salt Spring Singers, Amy will join Noni
and Sylvia for the lovely vocal trio, Shenendoah.
Wednesday promises to be an uplifting start to the Music and Munch year with free music beginning at 12.10pm
at All Saints' followed by an optional delicious lunch for $5.50. |
